Welcome to the new Director of MA in Spiritual Direction, Dr. Cliff Winters.
Dr. Winters received his doctorate in New Testament from Asbury Theological Seminary. He pastored for twenty years and is presently Teaching Pastor at New England Chapel in Franklin, MA.
He will be teaching Spiritual Formation in Biblical Perspective, Spiritual Formation and the Transformational Journey, Spiritual Classics: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Work, Soul Shepherding: The Role of the Christian Leader in the Development of Others’ Souls, and Ministry to Community.
Dr. Winters says he looks forward to navigating the “vagaries of the spiritual life alongside students. I love transformation,” he says. “I love to see life-setting lights come on.”
Dr. Winter’s dissertation, “Argument is War: Relevance-Theoretic Comprehension of the Conceptual Metaphor of War in the Apocalypse,” which was published by Brill in September 2020, in their Linguistics Biblical Studies series. He has also authored other scholarly articles and likes to spend his summers digging some of the most iconic archaeological sites in Israel, including Jerusalem (Mount Zion), Ashkelon, Tel Rehov, and Tel Dor.
Fun fact: Dr. Winters was an extra in the movie “We Are Marshall,” with Matthew McConaughey and Matthew Fox, which was filmed mostly in downtown Huntington.
The Spiritual Formation Concentration (MASF) at Barclay College recognizes that fulfillment in life and effectiveness in ministry increase as a person is shaped and conformed into the image of Christ.
