Christian Service

Barclay Students helping with toy distribution in St. Bernard Parish, New Orleans Christian Service provides practical experiences in Christian ministry that correlate academic knowledge with hands-on training. Through Christian Service, learning and training occur by doing, as students practice ministry, compassion skills and attitudes in local youth groups, Sunday schools, nursing homes, neighborhoods, jails, etc. Through Christian Service, we become the hands and feet of Jesus.

Students are required to participate in Christian Service each semester, because service is considered an integral part of the total degree program and our Christian walk. Each student is encouraged to participate in Christian Service assignments that correlate to their chosen degree program. Each student must complete at least twelve (12) hours of Christian Service each semester. At least eight (8) Christian Service units (8 semesters) are needed to meet graduation requirements. The Student Services office provides assistance and guidance for students trying to find the right fit for their ministry activities.

Learning, living, service to others - everything that we are and do here at Barclay we regard as worship and stewardship before God. The emphasis on campus is our walk with God through Jesus Christ, and our growing understanding of how that relationship is lived out on a daily basis is the real heart of Barclay College.
